Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.

Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.

Do you remember in the Bible when Jesus spoke: “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do?” Jesus hung on the cross as he said that, dying for our sins.

As Bible believing Christians, that’s what we need to say today to all others who call Christians haters for not supporting gay marriage; for not accepting the redefining of marriage itself.

I won’t get into the specifics of the issues. We’ve all heard enough to choke us. Facebook lit up like a rainbow firestorm. No matter what Christians say about the matter, they are labeled haters. Haters. Even though the entire Christian faith is founded in love and the followers of Christ are taught love and forgiveness, not revenge, not anger, and certainly not hate.

When the nine faithful followers of Christ were murdered in Charleston in their own place of worship; a place that should feel safe like a haven, like a retreat from the mad world, they died doing what they believed in, what they lived for. Dylan Roof, the moron who did the shooting, should be the focus of the anger and outrage, yet people have focused their rage on the Confederate flag. It’s called displaced anger. It’s as ridiculous as grits without cream.

Christians are being bombarded left and right, daily with so many invasions, injustices, and infringements on their rights. After the ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States on the redefining of marriage, I thought my heart would break. I still feel sick in my soul. Political correctness aside, I feel like something broke between God and us. I feel like America crossed the line by embracing sexual immorality and attempting to change God’s very own words. He alone created marriage and He alone defined it, not man. If you don’t believe in God, how can you or why do you believe in marriage?

I understand the desires of the flesh. I have fought them myself so many times. As much as you want something to be acceptable, it just isn’t acceptable in the eyes of God. He stated it so clearly. But it’s easier to want to change the rules than abide by them. It makes us all feel more comfortable when it’s no longer sin, but acceptable behavior, a lifestyle choice. Now some churches are literally bending the Word of God to allow for this sin. Where do we stop? Do we just keep sliding down this slope until everything is just ok? Everything is legal? No more sin means no more guilt. We all feel great now because everything is acceptable. Our own President is in support, even though just a few years ago he was clearly against it. Well, I just don’t waver like a weak blade of grass.

I believe in the Word of God. I believe it was written and ordained by God Himself. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and I believe that He calls us to repent of all sin. I believe that God manifested Himself in flesh and sent Jesus to this world to be the sacrifice for our sins and to unlock eternal life for those who believe. I believe He mediates between God and us, and provides help for us.

When you believe so strongly in something as Jesus, it is your heartbeat, it’s your life, and it’s everything you know to be true. You stake your life on it. This belief didn’t come easy. God perfects us as we go, and as we grow. God reveals Himself to those who believe through trial, through trouble, through healing, through revelation. God works miracles in people’s lives and then they can’t stop talking about it. When you believe and when you pray every day, and when you trust in God for help, for hope, for deliverance, for salvation, then you learn to rely and to trust in God and in Jesus and feel His presence — then you know they are all one in the same. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Many people today do not know God or Jesus intimately. They have not given their life up to Christ. They can’t possibly understand what we as Christians have come to know as clearly as fact. That God sent Jesus to Earth to save mankind. That God sacrificed His only Son for the sake of our sins. That Jesus died on the cross and rose again in glory and He will come back again.

I feel that we have moved the timeline up for the return of Jesus by embracing sin and labeling it #LoveWins. My sweet baby brother Kelly died of AIDS. He was innocent and gay and I love him so much. I have relatives and friends who are gay and whom I love and care about greatly. I couldn’t hate gay people if I tried, yet, this is the lie that has spread and tainted the truth. Christians aren’t haters, they simply know the truth and know that God hates the sin, but loves His children.

We are fast approaching the judgment on this nation and on this world. You don’t have to believe in it, but I certainly do. God has revealed Himself to me so many times that I know Him intimately. He has healed me more times than I can count. He has saved me so many times when I should have been dead. He has pulled me out of the gutter when I didn’t deserve His love or compassion. He has rescued me and helped me when I cried out to Him. How could I not know Him?

We have to forgive those who do not know. They don’t know the Word of God. They don’t know the truth. They haven’t studied the Bible. They don’t know how it ends. They don’t know what we know. We know the truth. It has been revealed to us. We have discernment and know that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt. Jesus, the Messiah, is coming back to judge the living and the dead, and to save all who believe in Him.

How could have Isaiah have written this thousands of years before Jesus was born?

Isa 7:14 (Immanuel in Hebrew means: ‘God with us’. Jesus Christ (Jehoshua Christos) means: ‘God Savior’, The Anointed One. Jesus is Immanuel – God with us.

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matt 1:21 21 – And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Luke 1:30-35 – 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Isa 9:6-7 (self explanatory)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We must say our prayers and beg God to forgive us as a nation, in spite of the views of many. We need to plead on behalf of America, even though so many are ready to spit in our face.

When I see all the anger in the world and hatred being thrown about, and I witness the incredible things going on in the sky now, just as Jesus said it would, we need to say, Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.
